Events & Outreach

You can book Orinoco to come to your event and run a scrap sale, training event or a creative play activity. You can also book training sessions at the scrapstore. Get in touch to discuss your needs and allow us to quote.

The prices below are a general guide:

Help and advice planning a creative play activity

We provide help and advice at the scrapstore free of charge. You may book an appointment to meet with one of our creative play advisors if you need to talk through what you are planning and get some ideas. Alternatively, just drop by the store and see who’s there to kick around some ideas; it’s what we’re here for.

Creative Play Training

We are happy to run informal training for teams who want to use the scrapstore better. We can host your team meeting, INSET or training session at Orinoco or we can come to you. A two hour meeting with a bag of free scrap for all attendees cost £50. If you would like Orinoco to come to you, prices start at £75 for a session (and include free scrap).

Scrapmobile Visit

Book the Scrapmobile to visit your setting or event and create a mini scrapstore. Prices start at £75. See the Scrapmobile page for further details about the logistics of booking a visit.

Orinoco Creative Play Event

Ideal as a central activity for a playday or other public play event. We supply a van full of materials along with a trained, CRB checked, creative play worker to run an open access play activity (three frees appply – children are free to come and go, free to choose how they play and everything is free). Prices start at £250 for an all day event.

We can provide larger teams (3 art workers) for £450 a day. Depending on the number of different activities required we can add additional staff at £150 each per day. If we are asked to run supervised sessions on a closed (booking in) model we require a minimum of three staff for thirty children plus an additional staff member for every additional ten children.

We are always happy to work with staff and volunteers supplied by our clients. This supports the event, keeps costs down and provides a training opportunity.

Stall at a fair or event

We are often invited to attend events to run a stall. Regrettably, we usually have to decline these invitations because we do not currently have a volunteer outreach team. If you are interested in getting involved and help form a new outreach team we would love to hear from you. Please note that all volunteers and staff who run events will need to undergo an enhanced CRB (police) check before they are allowed to work with children, young people and vulnerable adults. Full training will be given.
