November 14th 2006 - Cut the Cost of Christmas

Cut the environmental and financial cost of Christmas. Orinoco launches "Cut the Cost" on Tuesday November 14th with a Scrappy Christmas sale and AGM at the store.  [more]

November 1st - RePaint Store at OCVA

A partnership between the Community RePaint store at Orinoco and Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary action will expand the reach of the Community RePaint scheme in the City. Further growth is planned over 2006-07 to bring the scheme to communities across Oxfordshire. [more]

November 1st - On yer bike

The Oxford Cycle Workshop has donated a selection of children's bikes. They have been refurbished and are in excellent condition. Prices range from £10 to £20. [more]

October 1st 2006 - Soap in Store

The scrapstore smells delightful, thanks to a big donation of soap from the Eynsham Soap Company. [more]

September 8th 2006 - National Scrapswap

Well done and thanks to Milton Keynes Play Association for organising a fantastic Swap. We arrived late so were worried we would miss the best scrap but we needn't have worried as there was plenty to go around. The new stock in store from Saturday 9th.

The local BBC news team were there and it made the evening television bulletin. I've stuck a copy on the website. [more]

August 30th 2006 - Annie Sloan Practical Style

Annie Sloan Practical Style have donated hundreds of litres of new, specialist paint. The paint, translucent top-coats is perfect for creating finishes where wood grain or underlying colours show through to stylish effect, blending with the top coat. August 4th 2006 - Feng Shui Give Away

Focus DIY is handing over pallets of paint for community re-use. Nationally, they’re handing out £150,000 of paint to local community projects, schools and good causes. Stores in Banbury, Didcot and Witney are working with Orinoco and Community RePaint. The paint will be available at the Scrapstore from Saturday August 12th. July 30th 2006 - Volunteers Overwhelmed

Volunteers at Orinoco, the Oxfordshire scrapstore were overwhelmed by the bargain hunters keen to get their hands on cut-price fabric off-cuts at their Headington store. By the end of the weekend, seven pallets had been sold raising over £500. In total, the fabric, combined with increased sales of paint, garden tools, art materials and membership raised £1020. July 9th 2006 - Fabric Off-cuts Sale (July 29th & 30th)

Fabulous off-cuts from furniture makers Wesley Barrell are now in the store and need to be bought. We've got hundreds of roll-ends of fabric from all the major textile houses: Sanderson, G.P. & J. Baker, Lelievre, Osborne & Little, Liberty… the list goes on.  [more]

The new Orinoco leaflet and membership form is ready for download. Please print some out and leave them around for people to discover. There's a colour version and a Monochrome one for laser printers and photocopiers [more]

July 3rd 2006 - Wesley Barrell Donate Fabric

Orinoco has linked up with furniture manufacturer Wesley Barrell to find new homes for hundreds of metres of quality fabric off-cuts and roll ends. June 29th 2006 - Howie Watkins of Orinoco Wins Award

Howie Watkins was nominated for the award by Malborough School, Woodstock, for an "Investors in Education" award in recognition of his work with Orinoco – the Oxfordshire scrapstore and for helping raise funds for their wildlife garden with a benefit performance of his one-man-show ‘Beastly Behaviour’. June 6th 2006 - Windale Community Primary School

As part of the Artweeks programme, Orinoco worked with artist Tom Cox from Kids@rt and Becci Man of Windale Community Primary School to create school grounds sculptures. [more] [news release]

May 27th 2006 - Paint Sort

Volunteers Sarah & Bade get ready for the summer rush of DIY enthusiasts, mural artists and gardeners that take advantage of the Orinoco paint store. All paint has now been sorted to make shopping easier. Kitchen & Bathroom, exterior and specialist paints are now separated out. [news release]

May 10 2006 - ScrapSwap

Scrap traded with Worcester, Wiltshire and Bristol Scrapstores. We exchanged surplus stock and have some fabulous new items. May 4th 2006 - Re-Connect

Television presenter and environmental campaigner Howie Watkins (BBC - Really Wild Show, BBC - Science in Action...) joined children in Year three at St. Andrew's CE Primary School, Headington to launch Re-Connect, the recycled connection kit.

April 22nd 2006 - New Scrap

New Scrap delivery of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream pots... hundreds of them, with lids. Good sized, clean, cardboard pots with a wax lining. Waterproof and perfect for use as plant pots, paint containers or to model with.

April 8th 2006 - Cricket Force

Orinoco and Community Re>Paint support the NatWest Cricket Force 2006, where amateur cricket clubs across England and Wales are encouraged to do-up/redecorate/refurbish their clubs. [Cricket Force Website]

New Scrap, just in from one of our best suppliers: Cochranes of Oxford Ltd. Including: exciting plastic bits, rip-stop nylon off-cuts and sheets, kite material, kite shapes, string, windmills, bobbins and plastic straws.
