We have two events for you on Saturday 29th May from 11am to 1pm in the Bullingdon Community Centre:
Big book sale - the usual interesting variety of books of all types, shapes, sizes and languages
plus
Waste
Trees workshop - run by the world famous Groovy Sue, as part of the CIAO! Ark project. This innovative and ambitious arts and science
project will culminate in a large-scale public art installation in central
Oxford - a huge wooden Ark - betwen 24th and 27th June. Ten Oxfordshire primary schools are working with artists and scientists to
respond to the question 'If you were sailing away on an Ark to create a low
carbon future, what would you take with you and what would you leave behind?'. The workshop will allow your children to use our scrap to create their own visual
interpretation of the question.
So come along, pick up a few books and have some fun.
Other itemsWe've just received some nice upholstery fabric sample books, which can be used to decorate all manner of things, such as our cardboard drums, of which we've just received a new delivery. Sample books are 'scrap' (stuff them into a bag if you can), and the cardboard drums are ₤5 for non-members and just ₤3 for members.
We've also just received half a dozen working fluorescent strip lights, if anyone's interested. And we've got a 3m x 2.5m piece of lovely peachy/beigey carpet that is starting to get in the way. We've also been offered a large quantity of fine sawdust and large clear plastic sheets and bags (big enough to fit a sofa in). We don't particularly want to have to store them, but if you would like some, please let us know, and we'll get some. Finally, our new biodiesel supplier should be starting production this week, so we may have some available for you from next week. Prices and other details to be confirmed. To save me sending out another email that won't be of interest to most of our members, maybe you could email jon at oxorinoco.org or call 07960-661748 next week if you want to know more about it.
