Hi, The Community Volunteering Qualification is back! Does your organisation use volunteers? Would you like to offer them an accredited course for their volunteering? The CVQ is an ASDAN Level 2 qualification, which aims to get participants to identify the transferable skills they gain from volunteering, to apply them to a future job. This past Spring we held two courses, of which 5 people went onto paid work. Participants must be currently unemployed. ?The course has given me the confidence and motivation to pursue my goals? Participant Spring ?10 When & Where? -10 week course over consecutive Thursday afternoons (1.30pm-4.30pm), starting January 13th 2011. In addition you?ll have a mid-course 1:1 session & an end of course session with the tutor. -Held at Restore, Manzil Way, Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1YH What the course covers: -Communication Skills -Improving your own performance as a volunteer -Building on volunteering to develop a career -Teamwork skills -Equality Issues Who can attend the course? -Anyone who is currently volunteering (or about to start) for an organisation, preferably for at least 2 hrs a week -Anyone who is currently unemployed (this is a requirement for the funding of the course) What does the course cost? The course is free for participants (?10 returnable deposit required). Funding for this course has been provided by Oxford Brookes University. If you meet the criteria you'll be invited to a 1-1 meeting after the closing date.
