Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) is the main umbrella
organisation for the voluntary and community sector in Oxfordshire. The
Furniture Store collects re-useable furniture, electrical appliances and
other household items, and then re-distributes them to people on benefits
and low incomes. To get items at discounted prices, you will need to take
along proof of benefits, tax credit, pension book or student card.
They also sell stock at undiscounted prices to members of the public.
This enables them to raise much needed funds for the project, and divert
more items from unnecessary landfill.
In November 2006, we began a pilot project with OCVA to run a second
Community RePaint store with more regular opening hours than the Scrapstore.
