Extraordinary General Meeting Called - 7pm, Tuesday 20th March
In order that we can send the annual accounts and independent
assessor's report for financial year 05-06 to the Charities Commission we
have to have it approved by our members. To do this, an EGM has been called
for Tuesday March 20th at 7pm at Orinoco HQ - The Bullingdon Community
Centre. We need a minimum of 15 members to be present. |
Free Scrap...
We'll give anyone who comes to the EGM (Tuesday
20th March @ 7pm) two bags of free scrap as a thank you for their
time and a cup of tea (or alternative quality beverage). The store will be
open right through from 11am the meeting starts at 7pm. |

Swap Shop
A big thank you to everyone who came along to the Swap Shop. It was a
great success. The next one will be on Saturday April
14th. You can help publicise the Swap Shop by
downloading a copy of the poster and either printing it out for your
notice board at work or emailing a copy to everyone you know. [click

The most surprising donation was this pearl necklace (left), which made
its finder very happy. In total, 150 people came to the Swap. They spent
£71.62 on food and together with our regular customers spent £355.34 in the
shop. We took in around 200kg of stuff on the day and had collected 700kg of
office supplies in the previous week which we added to the swap pile. The
swappers took away around 260kg of stuff and Orinoco volunteers managed to
send most of what was left for recycling. Only 50kg ended up in landfill. |

Spring is in The Air
Any of you who have visited the store on a Tuesday morning will have met
Kate in person, but whenever you visit, you can't miss her displays. Her
latest, to get us all in the mood for Spring and Easter is her best yet.
Thanks Kate. |

New Scrap
Bristol and Milton Keynes Scrapstores dropped in to do a bit of swapping.
They took some of our excess stock and we took some of theirs. The new
goodies are in store now. |

That's Computer-tastic Scrapman
Hooray for British Telecom. They have awarded Orinoco a super new,
Internet Ready, NEC Computer. It comes with bells, whistles, a discounted
Broadband package and Microsoft Office 2007. Orinoco was one of 512
Community Groups nationwide to receive computers as part of the BT Community
Connections Scheme. |

Reduce - Reuse Garden
Green-fingered volunteer Sharon has decided that we've let the Orinoco
Estate fall into disrepair. She's working to get things in order and we hope
to be able to have a garden we can all play in by summer. Tuesday afternoon
is now gardening afternoon so if you have a bit of time to spare and fancy a
bit of extra gardening we'd love to see you at the store (we've got plenty
of tools). |

and finally...
This much loved telescope is waiting for its owner to collect it. It's
safe and well but misses its home. |

Saturdays from 11am to 4pm. Additionally, we are often in the store on
Monday and Friday afternoons sorting and tidying from 2pm-5pm. Please ring
