Orinoco Update
12th September 2007

What Happened to the Summer?

The nights are drawing in but Orinoco is prepared. We have been scouring Britain for new scrap and have swapped with Bristol, Swansea, Swindon, Watford, Portsmouth, Southampton and a host of other scrapstores to make sure that indoor play needn't be boring play. We've got new supplies of netting, sticky neoprene bits, quality fabric, gold & silver card, rolls of paper, sheets of paper and interesting plastic things to fire your imagination. All the latest Scrap is online at: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/oxorinoco/ScrapCatalogue

Get Your Skates on...

We've got a load of brand new In-line skates in men's sizes 9 to 12. They've been sitting in a warehouse for a bit judging from the fashion sense of the people on the box but they're dead good. They're quite snug so don't be put off if you're a size 8! £10 each (what a bargain) or cheaper if you haggle well.

Tiles, Tiles, Tiles...

Lots of very nice ceramic tiles have just come in. Most are being sold as scrap but the bigger ones are 50p each. Please remember, if we can see you really want them we'll put the price up so keep your poker face on at all times.

Membership Cards

A number of our new members are still waiting for their membership cards. Please accept our apologies for this. We are in the process of changing the membership card design and this has taken far longer than anticipated. The new membership cards should be ready and in the post within the next fortnight.

Swap Shop

The next swap will be on Saturday October 13th (the second Saturday of the month  as usual). Turn up and leave stuff, turn up and take free stuff or do both. Usual time, 11 to 4. Tell all your friends and download the poster. [www.oxorinoco.org/swapshop/]

81 people came to the Swap shop on August 9th. We took in around 205kg of goods and had collected 100kg in advance. The swappers took away 185kg of stuff that would otherwise have been binned. All these lovely items are now enjoying a new lease of life.
