Community RePaint - The Good News
Thanks to grant aid from the Oxfordshire Communities Foundation we have
been able to purchase the necessary shelving and flameproof storage
cupboards to open not one, but three new RePaint outlets in Oxfordshire. In
addition to the Orinoco scrapstore, you may now get paint from: the OCVA
furniture store in Northway, Oxford; Berinsfiled Employment Action Group,
Berinsfield and Oxford Wood Recycling, Milton Park, Abingdon / Didcot. [www.oxorinoco.org/paint] |

Community RePaint - The Bad News
On November 22nd we were given just 9 days notice that from December 1st
waste paint would not be accepted at any of the Household Waste Recycling
Centres. This has removed our primary source of paint and will also increase
our processing and disposal costs. We are currently reviewing all costs and
working to keep the scheme running. |

Christmas Treats
We've got loads of these beautiful tins @£1 each (great for storing pens,
pencils, brushes, etc.). We've also got books, paper and plenty of
bookbinding material (great for wrapping and making decorations out of).
In the ArtShop we have all the usual range of lovely Reeves Redimix paint
but specially for the festive season we've got shiny copper, bronze, silver
and gold in addition to our normal range. We've also got sparkly glitter and
glitter-glue pens in a range of colours.
Stuck for a present... well why not buy a
ReConnect kit or a
printing kit? |

Funky Printing
Our latest activity kit, produced by resident artist Jane Jelley is a
printing kit. Jane has combined: neoprene sticky shapes, waste card and
waste paper to create a kit that can be used with ordinary tempera (redimix
or powder paint) to wonderful effect. The kits will be on sale in the
scrapstore from December 8th and at the Oxford Green Fair.
We've had a lot of fun playing with them and making all kinds of seasonal
designs. Younger children (2 and above) enjoy slapping paint on pre-made
blocks and printing. Older children, young people and grown-ups can have fun
making the blocks as well. [www.oxorinoco.org/printing] |

Book a printing activity session for your group
If you'd like to try some funky printing you can book Orinoco to come out
and run a session (normally 1 hour duration plus setting up and tidying
away) for £50. We supply ready made printing blocks, materials to make new
printing blocks, paint and brushes. Bookings are now being taken for
morning, afternoon and evening sessions in January. If your group is based
in Cherwell District you may qualify for a free session thanks to a grant
from the District Council. Call or email us to find out if you qualify. |

Swap Shop - December 8th
It's the second Saturday of the month so it must be a Swap shop. Start
your Christmas NOT-shopping by coming along and grabbing lots of free stuff.
If you've never been to one before, these provide an opportunity to dump
stuff you don't want or grab stuff you do... for free. We also run a cafe
selling Indian food, sandwiches, cakes and drinks. The swap shops are just getting bigger and better every month.
We had over 200 people through the door in November and took in almost 1.5
tonnnes of stuff. [www.oxorinoco.org/swapshop] |

Christmas and New Year Holidays
Our last day of opening in 2007 will be Tuesday 18th of December. We will
re-open on Saturday 5th of January. Don't forget the first Swap Shop of 2008
on January 12th, a chance to get rid of all those unwanted presents. |

Where's Howie?
He's behind you... Howie is currently appearing in pantomime in Suffolk
at the Leiston Film Theatre. It's a bit of a Schlep from Oxford so he quite
understands if you can't make it along but if you're passing he'd love to
see you. [www.leistonfilmtheatre.co.uk] |
